But what will a website do for me?

Maybe you've been thinking about getting a website, but haven't quite figured out why you should? Well, we can give you some ideas as to why right here.

Websites can serve many different functions. They can be the online equivalent of a brochure - a nice looking piece of advertising that offers basic information about you and your services, but they can also be much more than that. If you start thinking in terms of what your website can actually do for you, the following come to mind:

1. Provide basic information about your business.
2. Serve as a communication tool between you and your customers.
3. Be open 24/7, something which is difficult for a human to manage.
4. Let the customer find out information without having to call or talk to someone.
5. Show special offers and other things not available elsewhere, encouraging customers to return.
6. Be a repository for documentation you'd otherwise have to hand out in person.

You may think we're missing the obvious by not mentioning e-commerce, but if your intention is to sell stuff online, you've already figured out that a website can do that for you. :)
