2020 January 28

Solid North (more formally Pangasinan Solid North Transit) is the latest company to add a premium bus service to Baguio City. Launched in July last year, it operates from PITX (Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange) and uses TPLEX to reach Baguio.

The company touts the service as the “first and only Manila-Baguio Point-to-Point bus.” But as far as I know, Victory Liner’s First Class and JoyBus have been running a direct, non-stop premium service to Baguio for far longer, so I don’t know about that. But Solid North offers some of the cheapest P2P tickets, which is great for budget travelers who want to be a little bit more comfortable.

Solid North has two P2P classes:

  • Luxury Class. 28-seater bus with 3 seats per row (2+1). Equipped with in-bus restroom, Lazy Boy seat recliner, free wifi, and USB charging ports. Complimentary snacks and bottled water are also provided. Fare: P760.
  • Super Deluxe Class. 45-seater with 4 seats per row (2+2). Equipped with in-bus restroom, free wifi, and USB charging ports. They also provide complimentary snacks and bottled water. Fare: P525.

Here are photos of the Luxury Class.

Like JoyBus and Victory Liner First Class, Solid North P2P buses don’t make any stop along the way, shortening the travel time to only 5-7 hours, depending on how heavy the EDSA traffic is. As you might already know, traffic conditions in Manila has been dismal and it can take one to two hours to get out of EDSA, longer if it’s rush hour. But once you’re out of Metro Manila, the journey takes less than 4 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is advanced reservation required?

No, it is not required.

You can simply show up at the terminal and buy your tickets there. But in peak seasons like Panagbenga Festival (February), Holy Week, All Saints’ Day, and Christmas holidays, you might want to book in advance to be safe.

Where can I book tickets online?

You can book at biyaheroes.com.

You will be charged an online booking fee, which is understandable because it’s more convenient and cheaper than having to actually go to the terminal to reserve.

Can I cancel my booking?

According to the notice posted at the terminal: “Cancellation of booking is not allowed after 24 hours of confirmation.”

Can I rebook?

Rebooking is allowed up to 24 hours before departure but will incur a 10% surcharge. The new date must be within 6 months from the original travel date.

You can only rebook once.

How long is the travel time?

Somewhere between 5 and 7 hours, highly dependent on Manila’s traffic situation. If you’re traveling southbound in the morning or northbound in the evening, prepare to spend much longer along EDSA.

But once you’re out of Metro Manila, the journey takes less than 4 hours.

It’s still far shorter than taking the regular bus with stopovers.

Do buses from Baguio to PITX stop in Cubao?

Some buses do drop off passengers in Araneta Center in Cubao. But NOT ALL.

In the timetable above, the buses that make a stop in Cubao are marked with “via Araneta.”

Are there souvenir shops near JoyBus terminal in Baguio?

Yes. The terminal is lined with several souvenir stores, where you can purchase peanut brittle, strawberries, oranges, keychains, ref magnets, and other Baguio products before your trip.

Aside from Solid North, are there other premium buses to Baguio?

YES. JoyBus has premier and executive class buses. Victory Liner also has a First Class option.

You can find their compiled schedules here: BAGUIO PREMIUM P2P BUSES SCHEDULE!

I have taken this bus on my trip to Baguio on 3 occassions on assignment, may I add that if you’re taking this bus to Baguio coming from Quezon City and other parts of northern Metro Manila you may board at JAC Liner Kamias Terminal, the bus stops there for about 15 minutes as PITX is too far for us QC residents. This is my helpful hint if anyone wishes to avail of this new P2P bus to Baguio.
